This has been a very challenging year for all, including Naas Rugby football club, but unfortunately these challenges have not been on the pitch. Covid-19’s effects have been extremely demanding for every person and business with the various restrictions and the obstacles it has brought.
Certain members of our club have over the years, and particularly now shown amazing dedication and hard work. These efforts ensured that Naas RFC continued in operation this year.
A big thank you to Mick Cahill for all the work he has done to create a safe environment for us to participate in our sport. I would like to thank the Executive Committee for their diligence, commitment, and tireless effort in keeping rugby played.
To all our coaches, and volunteers in the senior, junior, and ladies section I'd like to thank you all very much for your work and commitment in these difficult times.
Thank you to those who have helped in the various fundraising events. Thank you to Liam O’Rourke in his role as treasurer, to Robert Brickell, our secretary, who is in charge of membership collection. Additionally, to Conor Brophy and his team for the organisation of the Chase. Gerry Prendergast and his team for arranging the golf tournament and Kevin Greene and his team for overseeing the lotto.
I understand how difficult and trying these times are for businesses. I would like to sincerely thank all sponsors for their continued support during these very tough times. Without this muchneeded backing, the club would not be able to continue. Thank you to Bill O’Brien of Brady Ham, Rory Larkin of RFL Steel, Peter Kenny of K Windows and Profile Systems, Martin Sweeney of Mosco, Frank Kelly of Sheehy Motors, Ian McGarry of Caragh Nurseries, Barry Johnson of Ted Johnsons Monread and Andy Hogan of 33 South Main Pub.
We had a tremendous response from all our members and the local community in the sponsorship of the Chase. I'd like to take this opportunity to ask you to shop locally this Christmas and support those who have helped us this year. Please see below a list of those that sponsored the Chase.
Lastly, on behalf of Naas Rugby Club I would like to wish all members a happy and safe Christmas this year. I look forward to seeing you all in 2021.
Michael Dempsey
Chairman Naas RFC
