Naas RFC President Christmas Message.
In what has been a very challenging year for Naas RFC, and indeed most sporting clubs. It is great that there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.
Out of adversity often comes opportunity, and this was the case in Naas RFC. While our Seniors were not allowed to play since October, they along with the Director of Rugby and the Management team decided to give something back. As our Youths/Additional Needs/Minis and Girls squads were allowed to train - under strict guidelines - our Seniors took it upon themselves to come to the Club every Saturday morning on a rota basis and helped the coaches in each age group. This initiative worked very well, with more of the children now looking forward to coming to see their co-opted coaches playing for Naas, and continuing to build on a sense of belonging in our club. We all look forward to the day the Pandemic has eased enough that we can mix with our friends from Naas and visiting clubs and enjoy Senior Rugby and all other levels of our game.
I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard to keep Naas RFC going during this financially very challenging time. Our Sponsors have been unwavering in their continued support, which we gratefully appreciate. Also a big thank you to all past members who have re-joined, which has helped the club significantly. If you would like to join us just log onto Club Zap and go to Naas RFC, for this and all club news.
Mick Cahill took on the onerous task of taking the Club Covid Lead. He has done a magnificent job and deserves all of our credit.
On Behalf of The Executive Committee, can I wish all our members, including Players/Coaches/Referees/Back-Room Teams/Volunteers and Families a safe and happy Christmas and a New Year that will hopefully be packed with rugby.
Yours in Rugby
Barry Brophy
